Interior Design Magazine Recognizes Britto Charette Interior Design Firm

Britto Charette is thrilled to announce that we have been awarded Interior Design magazine’s 2023 Best of Year award! Our interior design team won the award for our Brookville project which took top prize in the Large Residential Transformation category. This year, 557 design firms from 29 countries entered the prestigious competition.

BROOKVILLE—A RESIDENTIAL INTERIOR TRANSFORMATION
Britto Charette designed the interiors of this 7,454 sqft home for our returning clients. They tasked us with updating their very traditional New York residence, and we obliged by designing and executing a classical modern renovation that is bright and sophisticated and that respects the original architectural language of the home.
Interior designer Arianna Castro was Britto Charette’s project manager extraordinaire for this gorgeous project in which our team renovated four of the bedrooms, the recreational areas, kitchen, dining room, den, bar, library, and much more. The floor plan also had wasted space that the client wanted us to make usable. From floor to ceiling, we cleaned up the entire footprint of the home, including new flooring, gorgeous ceiling details, wall coverings, FF&E, custom millwork, and custom furniture.

DESIGN CHALLENGE
One of the biggest challenges in this complete renovation was the theater room in the basement level of the home. Every design element in the room was dated and tired. To accommodate the AV needs, and to achieve the necessary ceiling height, we had to dig into the foundation a further three feet. This challenge required an immense of amount of coordination with the contractor, Luciana Barbosa and the wonderful and talented team at A&B Contracting. The result is a stunning and completely transformed home theater.

DESIGN APPROACH
“We toured the natural quarry in Vincenza, where the masters at Grassi Pietre showed us how they extract material from the Pre-Alpi mountains. They produce incredible custom stone pieces for artists and designers.”
