WINNER 2024 LUXE RED AWARD
Britto Charette & Kyle Bunting Rug Collaboration Wins National Prize

We have some exciting news to share! Britto Charette and Kyle Bunting have won a LUXE Residential Excellence in Design (RED) Award for MIKA, a luxurious hide rug. The design was inspired by David Charette’s trips to Brasilia and by the work of Oscar Niemeyer. Designed by Britto Charette in collaboration with Kyle Bunting, the MIKA is handcrafted in Texas by Kyle’s team of skilled artisans.

Part of our BRASILIA collection of modern rugs, the MIKA is fully customizable and features the finest hides sourced from Italy. It is proudly showcased in our Indianapolis project (pictured below) and was also featured in the 2024 KIPS’s Bay Showhouse vignette by Marc-Michaels Interior Design.

David attended the award ceremony at THE MART in Chicago in June. “It was a wonderful event and I was honored to represent our team, and to have this collaboration with Kyle Bunting win a RED Award—our first!—was a thrill.
The win was an emotional one for David, who shared that his trips to Brasilia served as inspiration for the collection:
“In 2020, I visited Brasilia after a long recuperation from a near-fatal case of COVID that had left me with a temporary partial paralysis in my dominant hand--something that was really challenging for me as an artist. Brasilia’s modernism and textures, its showcase of stunning Niemeyer architecture and glorious geometry, inspired me and gave me the confidence to begin sketching again. The BRASILIA Collection is the tactile representation of my experience in Brasilia--a love letter to the city and architect that helped me heal.”
